Production is ongoing for Avengers: Infinity War, and thanks to a couple batches of set photos from Just Jared, we're getting a taste of what's to come in the anticipated cosmic adventure — particularly for Doctor Strange. Potential spoilers follow.

These new set photos paint an interesting picture for the Sorcerer Supreme as he gets taken down by a CGI villain with the intent to likely take his Infinity Stone. Without any real context to these images, it's difficult to say for sure what's happening, but it is safe to say that things are going to get dicey for Earth's heroes.

Based on the pictures in this new batch, it seems that Doctor Strange will lose the Eye of Agamotto in Avengers: Infinity War. But we kind of already assumed that since Doctor Strange currently holds the Time Stone. If Thanos wants to finally assemble the Infinity Gauntlet, he'll require all the stones, and that's what makes this set photo so interesting.

So Who Is Attacking Doctor Strange?

We're not sure who the actor is, but if you look through the galery of set photos, you'll notice that the name tag on the mo-cap suit reads EB-MAW, which fans of the comic books will recognize as Ebony Maw, one of Thanos's Black Order, whom we're expecting to be a pivotal group of enemies for the Avengers. It seems pretty clear that Maw is attacking Strange for his Time Stone, and considering the history of these two in the comics, we're in store for some great psychic combat.

Ebony Maw is one of the greatest psychics in the cosmic world with still untold powers of persuasion and manipulation. Think Loki and Scarlet Witch dialed up to 11. Maw is powerful enough that at one point in the comics, he took control of Doctor Strange — so it'll be interesting to see just how these two characters clash.

Avengers: Infinity War released on May 4, 2018 and will be the largest gathering of Marvel heroes as they try to hold off Thanos and his Black Order from conquering Earth and the rest of the universe.
