Without a doubt, Stranger Things was one of the best new #TV shows to grace our screens last year. The series gained a lot of attention when it debuted on #Netflix back in July, and it has since gone on to become one of the streaming service's most successful shows. But despite the show's compelling kid protagonists, the phenomenal Winona Ryder and the terrifying Demogorgan, there was one character who was arguably most popular of all: Barb.
Nancy's considerate friend met an unfortunate end when she was taken to the Upside Down by the Demogorgan and held there all season, while her friends mounted the worst search operation in history. When fans found out that she had died in the otherworldly dimension, an online campaign was created, calling for #JusticeForBarb.
Does Barb Return In Season 2?
Despite fans' anger, they hung onto the hope that Barb might return in Season 2. After all, her body is in the seemingly supernatural Upside Down, and we already know that we're going to be spending a lot more time there this season.
However, on the latest episode of "Remote Controlled" — a podcast from Variety — the creators of Stranger Things, the Duffer Brothers, finally revealed Barb's fate in Season 2, confirming the scary truth that none of us wanted to accept: she is still dead.
After Ross Duffer confirmed that she won't be crawling out of the grave, his brother Matt commented:
"There’s no resurrecting Barb, but there is plenty of Barb talk. We make clear that some people still care. Some people care about her."
While it's unfortunate that the character won't be making a miraculous comeback — because Shannon Purser really gave us an unforgettable portrayal — it's nice to know that her presence will be felt during the second season.
