Episode 15 of The Walking Dead was cool for a number of reasons including Maggie putting Gregory to shame and Rick finally managing to collect enough guns. However, amongst all the action there was also an appearance from some of the coolest walkers we've seen in a long time.
Drawn by the explosions they came lurching out of the woods while the folk of Oceanside were being held by Rick and Co, soaking wet and barnacles clinging to their melty faces.
The Pirates of the Caribbean-esque walkers had actually made a short appearance at the very start of the episode, where we saw they had made their way from a ship which had likely wrecked itself on the coast near Oceanside after the breakout of the apocalypse.

But if you wanted a closer look at those slimy little beauties, you're in luck! Executive producer and special effects master Greg Nicotero has posted a couple of close up snaps of the more gruesome ones. Firstly check out Barnacle Betty:
Nicotero explained that the walkers were totally practical with no digital effects used in bringing this look to life. The effects were made possible by Greg Nicotero and Howard Berger's studio, KNB EFX Group, which was formed in the late 80s after the pair met while filming for George Romero's Day of the Dead.
The Walking Dead special effects team always takes the opportunity to go above and beyond when creating walkers to fit the environments they're found in, and hopefully we'll revisit Oceanside at some point in the future ready for another look at what might lurk down in Davy Jones' locker.
