After their two brilliant collaborations on Shallow Grave, Trainspotting and a far less brillaint A Life Less Ordinary, most people expected and to become an actor-director pairing for the ages. A British Scorsese-De Niro tandem, if you will.

But, alas, this was not to be. The director and actor fell out over Boyle's replacing McGregor with very late in the production of his adaptation The Beach. McGregor was pretty angry at the time and apparently with good reason, as these rueful comments -- made by Boyle during the Jonathan Ross' ITV talk show (via indieWIRE's The Playlist) -- prove:

We didn't treat him very well, I’ve got to be honest about it. We didn't behave at our best

Luckily, the two have since buried the hatchet and are likely to reunite for that long-gestating Trainspotting sequel, Porno. The director also hinted at the title for that movie being changed to T2 soon, but we're sticking with the current one until we hear something official. might have a word to say about this...
