It is one of the most epic and important poems in the English language and now it's getting an adaptation for Syfy. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Beowulf is being adapted for TV and 1408 scribe has been tasked to pen the script.

The Old English poem originated between the 8th and 11th centuries and charts the rise to power of the titular warrior hero and his battles with the monster Gendrel. It's cited as one of the most important and oldest works of literature and despite being forced to read it while I was at school, it is one of the most majestic works of prose I have ever come across.

Hopefully Syfy can do it justice.

There's still no word when we might see the pilot, but we'll keep you updated as and when we hear anything.
