11. 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' – 2008
Not only is Jason Segel an essential ingredient for a goofy and clumsy love story, but he actually revealed that he'd been "naked-dumped" once in real life. Add to that Beach Paul Rudd, and you've got the perfect romantic comedy about a man desperately trying to get over his ex.
10. '27 Dresses' – 2008
There are plenty of #KatherineHeigl movies we could add to this list, but let's go with just one: 27 Dresses. Heigl plays a lovely lady who seems eternally doomed to being the bridesmaid, but her run-in with Prince Charming James Marsden (remember him in Enchanted?) will teach her to admit to herself what she truly wants.
9. 'Crazy, Stupid, Love.' – 2011
Just like Katherine Heigl, #RyanGosling should never be exempted from a list of the top romantic comedies. In Crazy, Stupid, Love., he plays a hot dude trying to show a less hot dude (Steve Carell) how to be hot after the latter breaks up with his wife and finds himself in serious need of a confidence boost. Julianne Moore and Emma Stone are also part of the delightful cast.
8. 'Love Actually' - 2003
Obviously. If you haven't seen Love Actually yet, you should start this Christmas rom-com classic immediately. If you've seen it, well, it's not like you can watch it too many times.
7. 'Bridget Jones's Diary' – 2001
Same goes for Bridget Jones: The Renée Zellweger-Colin Firth-Hugh Grant trio deserves your immediate attention. No one captures the feeling of life not going exactly as you planned as well as Bridget and her diary. (If you want more, go check out The Edge of Reason and the recently released Bridget Jones's Baby).
6. 'Heartbreaker' – 2010
Who does romance better than the French? Heartthrob Romain Duris joins Vanessa Paradis, the French actress you might already know as the former wife of Johnny Depp, in this story of a man paid to break up couples who get a little too involved in his job.
5. '(500) Days Of Summer' – 2009
While the movie tells you straight away that "this is not a love story," (500) Days of Summer still nails the feeling of a good love story, from the heartwarming moments to the awkward and the bittersweet ones. Carried by Zooey Deschanel's signature quirkiness and Joseph Gordon-Levitt's adorable face, it's a funny romance movie complemented by a great soundtrack.
4. 'About Time' – 2013
Since The Notebook isn't exactly a comedy, here's another good romantic comedy starring #RachelMcAdams. About Time's main man, played by Domhnall Gleeson, discovers he has the ability to travel back in time — and tries to shape his perfect love story as best as he can.
3. 'Four Weddings And A Funeral' – 1994
Clearly, the seductive gaze specialist that is #HughGrant was due to appear more than once on this list. Four Weddings and a Funeral is a '90s rom-com classic about a man named Charles who's convinced that he should be with this woman, Carrie, whom he's met time and again at a few weddings... and a funeral.
2. 'Pretty Woman' – 1990
What's your favorite rom-com with #JuliaRoberts? Notting Hill or Pretty Woman? Honestly, both deserve to be among the best romantic comedies. Pretty Woman is the essence of a modern fairytale, starring Roberts as a destitute prostitute and Richard Gere as her unexpected Prince Charming.
1. 'When Harry Met Sally' – 1989
While it starts out as a movie about two friends, When Harry Met Sally is the quintessential rom-com, filled with feel-good vibes, just the right amount of heartbreak and plenty of moments that'll be all too real for anyone who has ever tried to find love. Honestly, Meg Ryan's fake orgasm scene and Carrie Fisher's role as the no-bullshit friend alone are reason enough to watch the movie.
