The Vampire Diaries star has is seeing red about the spin-off series, The Originals. In a recent talk with Digital Spy, Somerhalder said:

They're going to be taking these characters that mean so much to our show.

He has a point. Central Vampire Diaries characters, Klaus (), Rebekah () and Elijah () will be abandoning the popular show for the new CW spinoff, The Originals. The new CW spin-off will move to noted vampire hangout, Louisiana, scene of True Blood action. Somerhalder raged:

Who are the other people who are gonna be coming on the show? Are they gonna be good? Because it's The CW and everyone has to be pretty, and there aren't a lot of pretty people that can act well.

I'm not joking! I'm one of them that can act well. Not to sound s****y about it, but casting is always tough.

Oh, snap! Don't hold back, will you, Ian? It's great that Somerhalder cares so deeply about his show, but boasts of being on of the 'pretty people that can act well' may tarnish his nice guy image...Still, Damon (Somerhalder's Vampire Diaries character) is 173...and it's often said that those older folks don't like change.

Somerhalder soon returned to expressing his concerns about the changes in his beloved The Vampire Diaries franchise in his more typical nice guy fashion:

I'm excited for...all my people, but I'm a selfish actor. I'm not a producer on the show, I'm not a writer. My only concern is Damon, and my show. I'm insanely happy for everyone, but I'm not thrilled.

The Originals premieres directly after The Vampire Diaries on October 3. What do you think about this, vamp fans?
