Those ominous words spoken by Reese Witherspoon's rich Cali mom Madeline Mackenzie threaten to loom large over #BigLittleLies, HBO's upcoming thriller about a band of competitive women in wealthy Monterey. Adapted from the book by Liana Moriarty, there's murder in the air in Big Little Lies — although the trailer subverts the recent trend of spoiling everything by cleverly keeping the victim's identity secret.

Still, the smart guess is that it's the arrival of 's young mom Jane in this picture-perfect Californian suburb which sparks the chain of events that leads somebody to whisper, dramatically, "so we're like, seriously using the word murder?"
