It's important to take all rumors with a pinch of salt, especially when they revolve around something as highly anticipated as comic book movies. With the 's colorful history, it's understandable that rumors regarding its future would circulate online.

But it seems like r/DCEUleaks on Reddit is the rumor mill that just keeps on going. Just after suggesting that we might see four Batman movies released in 2019, there is now a rumor suggesting that the movie is practically off the table and that Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam will now be the main villain of .

Will We See Black Adam Vs. Superman?

The post suggests that Black Adam will be the primary antagonist in the next Superman solo film. And the reason for this is apparently due to the fact that Warner Bros. did not feel confident enough in early drafts of the script, and felt that Dwayne Johnson deserved a much bigger project — enter Superman.

According to the rumor, while Warner Bros. had been previously toying with the idea of having Black Adam pop up for a cameo in Man Of Steel 2, their lack of confidence in the Shazam script is apparently what forced them to make Adam the villain of the Superman sequel instead. The post also claims that while Matthew Vaughn is indeed still in talks to direct Man Of Steel 2, Warner Bros. are talking to other directors as well.

It closes by telling us that while Shazam is practically off the table — Warner Bros. were much more interested in Black Adam than the hero — we shouldn't rule out Billy Batson appearing in another DCEU film.

Could This Rumor Be True?

It's tough to say whether or not this post is legit. But it is worth noting that, despite the flood of major DCEU announcements we've had recently, we have heard little about Shazam. While there have been rumors surrounding its director, all has been very quiet on the official progress of the project.

However, the Rock did have a meeting with DC about their entire universe back in January. Learning about the "tonal shifts and developments coming in these future movies," Johnson sounded incredibly excited to be a part of the DCEU.

DC Entertainment President Geoff Johns reciprocated the excitement with a post on Twitter.

But it's definitely worth noting that Johnson met with DC in regards to their entire universe as opposed to the Shazam film. And the project's name is noticeably absent from his Instagram post. Thus, this would perhaps support the rumor's claims that Warner Bros. is sold on the Rock and Black Adam more than they are on Shazam.

Furthermore, last Christmas, Johnson posted a festive picture of himself and Superman actor Henry Cavill on Instagram, in which he stated that the two of them were "very excited about what the future brings." Could that future feature the two of them facing off on the big screen?

Superman squaring off against Black Adam is definitely a sight that we would all love to see — and the Rock is definitely one of the few A-list actors who could make Superman look like a lightweight — but until we get any official confirmation from Warner Bros. or DC on the future of either project, this will remain a rumor. Perhaps we'll get some clues in Justice League, which opens November 17, 2017.

Do you think this rumor could be true, or is this just wishful thinking from a DCEU superfan? Let us know in the comments below!
