Season 6 of Arrow is set to bring some major changes to the show. For starters, we don't even know which cast members will be returning, given the shocking ending to Season 5. But there's one definite casualty: the original costume for new Black Canary Dinah "Tina" Drake — because her new one has been revealed.
Actress Juliana Harkavy was introduced to the show during Season 5 as former CCPD officer Tina Boland, before her real name was eventually revealed to be Dinah Drake. While that proved to be somewhat problematic — especially since Laurel Lance's mother was already named Dinah Drake Lance — Harkavy won over a lot of fans with her strong-willed badass performance.
It wouldn't be long until she was given a costume. However, unlike the previous two Canaries, hers was just simple street clothes and a black mask. But it appears all that will be changing as, thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we now have our first official look at Dinah's brand new Black Canary costume:
Wearing a black leather bodysuit with short sleeves and long black gloves to cover her arms, Dinah is posed with her signature brown stick. The yellow stripes that run down the upper body are reminiscent of the outfit worn by the Black Canary in the New 52 continuity. While that outfit wasn't received very well, it will be interesting to see how fans respond to Harkavy's version. Previous Canary outfits have received both acclaim and criticism, so it's likely that we will see something similar here.
On the other hand, actress Katie Cassidy (who portrayed the original Black Canary) will be returning to the show as Laurel's Earth-2 doppelgänger, Black Siren. With her very own Canary Cry and hand-to-hand combat skills, she and Dinah are evenly matched. However, her costume has received praise from fans, particularly the upper body as it matches a lot of the traditional Black Canary costumes from the comic books. So it will be interesting to see which Canary fans get behind.
No matter what happens in Season 6, you can't deny that Dinah looks badass in that new image. And I certainly look forward to seeing what both she, and Black Siren, accomplish in Season 6 of Arrow.
Which Canary has the better outfit?
