Season 3 of Black Mirror arrived on Netflix this weekend, after a much-too-long wait between seasons and a jump from the UK's Channel 4. Charlie Brooker's darkly satirical anthology series looks a little shinier, but scratch beneath the surface and the themes remain equally bleak. Sadly, there's no moment quite as OMG-worthy as the Prime Minister inserting his penis into a dead pig, but hey, it's 2016 and Black Mirror has gone vegan.

If you've not seen it yet, check out the trailer below (and then angle your screen away from your colleagues and fire up the Netflix).

Because we Millennials are an exhaustive binge-watch generation who always want the next thing, though, you've probably devoured Season 3 already. The good news is that Season 4 isn't far away, and some of what we've learned about it already suggests that television's most cynical drama will continue to deliver the goods in 2017.

A-List Director? Check!

If you've been a fan of Jodie Foster since Silence of the Lambs, I have good and bad news for you. The good is that Foster will direct an episode of Black Mirror Season 4; the bad is that you're quite old.

Foster has been more focused on directing than acting in the past five years — she was hilarious in Roman Polanski's comedy of manners Carnage, but since then went behind the camera to helm an episode of House of Cards. She also directed this year's low-key, well-received financial thriller Money Monster, with George Clooney and Julia Roberts. Check out the trailer for that below.

Between those projects and Black Mirror, it seems like Foster the director is sticking to the genre that got her the best results as an actor — tight, tense thrillers like Lambs, Panic Room and the brilliant/insane Flight Plan.

What Else Do We Know About Season 4?

Foster's episode of Black Mirror will star Rosemarie DeWitt (Mad Men) and should premiere as part of another batch of six episodes around this time next year on Netflix. Other than that, it's still early days. Sorry, I don't have all the answers. More casting info should leak out in the coming weeks, and we'll keep this page up to date with all news.
