In anticipation of this year's new Star Wars film, The Last Jedi, and next year's anthology film based on Han Solo, I started thinking about different characters I'd love to see return to the Star Wars universe — specifically, the bounty hunters we've seen over the years. Keep on reading to see just what bounty hunters we need to see return to a galaxy far far away!
Not much is known about the Trandoshan alien race, but Bossk is certainly welcome back in the Star Wars universe. His first appearance in #StarWars is during #EmpireStrikesBack when Darth Vader hires several bounty hunters to track down the Millennium Falcon. He stands out from the scene with his reptilian skin –– the look of a true predator. The other noticeable thing about him is that he lacks any added body armor. No doubt his skin is durable enough to withstand most attacks.
Bossk also appeared in several episodes of The Clone Wars animated series, and I think all of us would love to see more of what this Trandoshan has to offer. Certainly his best chance would be to appear in the upcoming Solo film, considering he has a big history with Wookies in the Legends novels.
IG-88 is another character that was first introduced to Star Wars fans in Empire Strikes Back. He has a menacing appearance that is magnified by his lacking a traditional face. This gives the droid a very cold look that relays to us how much of a killer he can be, but don't forget about that weaponry — take it from me, you don't want to mess with this droid. I would love to see IG-88 in action in another film, especially since he recently made an appearance in #ForcesOfDestiny. This would give fans a real chance to see the ruthless skill of the bounty hunter droid.
3. Cad Bane
I know many of you were expecting to see this in the number one position! Let me assure you that there is good reason for Bane to be here. This bounty hunter has appeared only in The Clone Wars series, but left quite the impression during that time. Bane reminds me of a bad gunslinger in an old Western film. His exploits during the Clone Wars are the stuff of legend. In his very first appearance, he is seen breaking into the Jedi Temple to steal a Sith holocron. At other times, he breaks himself and others out of prison and kidnaps senators, the chancellor and even Jedi.
At the end of the day, all Cad wants is to be paid — and paid well. He is ruthless and merciless, never letting anything get in the way of his payday. He has a particular hatred for Obi-Wan Kenobi after the latter went undercover on a kidnapping job with Bane, which led to Bane's arrest. This would make Bane a good choice to appear as an antagonist in the recently announced Kenobi anthology film.
- Dengar (The Empire Strikes Back)
- Aurra Sing (The Clone Wars)
Boba Fett one of the most skilled and ruthless bounty hunters in the galaxy. After watching his father's death at the hands of the Jedi, he determined to never allow the same happen to him. The last we see of Boba Fett, he is uncharacteristically falling into the mouth of the sarlacc in #ReturnOfTheJedi. Fans know how tough Mandalorian armor is and are certain that the bounty hunter didn't die in the belly of the beast. I believe we all would like to see his return post Jedi, perhaps on a revenge hunt for Han Solo or Luke Skywalker.
There it is, 3 bounty hunters that definitely should return to the Star Wars universe. What do you think? Do you agree? Are there others who should return? Comment below!
