The past weekend was wondrous for Wonder Woman fans.
Warner Bros. lassoed our attention with the release of the third trailer for the upcoming Wonder Woman feature film and a slew of super news has followed including the confirmation of cast members.
(If you haven't seen the trailer yet, check it out below.)
Among the cast confirmations was the news that world champion boxer Anee Wolfe is playing the part of Artemis in Wonder Woman, which was announced via Twitter by the film's director Patty Jenkins on March 12.
Wolfe is considered by many to be the greatest fighter in the history of women's boxing, having held world titles in three different weight classes simultaneously during her career.
Who is Artemis?
To the casual fan, Artemis might not be someone that they are familiar with. But die-hard fans know her as one of the fiercest Amazons who even briefly became Wonder Woman for a time.
During #DCRebirth, Artemis was a part of the Red Hood's Outlaws, working with Red Hood, Bizarro, and even Black Mask.
Given Artemis' important place in Wonder Woman history, it's a safe bet Wolfe's version of the character will be one of the more important Amazons featured in the film along with Diana, Antiope, and Hippolyta.
The decision to cast Wolfe in the role is a great one that brings another form of real-world woman power to a film about the fiercest female in comic book history: Wonder Woman.
The lyrics from the classic Wonder Woman TV show theme have never been more true than they are right now:
All the world is waiting for you and the power you possess.
June 2 can't get here fast enough.
