The fallout of the Brangelina divorce is seeping into Brad Pitt's working life after the star chose to cancel his latest red carpet appearance due to his current "family situation."
Pitt was due to attend the premiere of Terrence Malick's new film Voyage of Time —for which he provides the narration — but has instead chosen to lie low during this emotionally fraught time.
Although Brad felt unable to appear in the spotlight right now, the 52-year-old did everything he could to promote the film by releasing the following statement to Access Hollywood about the movie:
"Terrence’s 'Voyage of Time' is an incredibly beautiful and unique experiential IMAX film for children and families chronicling the birth of time. I'm very grateful to be part of such a fascinating and educational project, but I’m currently focused on my family situation and don’t want to distract attention away from this extraordinary film, which I encourage everyone to see."
Although Malick will obviously be missing some serious star-power at the premiere now there is a Brad shaped hole in the event, the notoriously private director will probably be glad to buck the media circus so the press can focus exclusively on his latest creation.
Obviously going through a divorce is a deeply stressful period for anyone, let alone someone in the public eye like Brad (who has also been accused of poor parenting), but it's heartwarming to see that the actor still has the presence of mind to consider others and worry his presence might overshadow Malick's hard work.
Voyage of Time is released in theaters across America on October 7, 2016.
Do you think Brad made the right decision by avoiding the premiere?
