Say what you will about how their relationship started, but and seem to have the sort of mutual passion, respect, and abiding love for one another that is rare to find these days, particularly in Hollywood romances.

Right on the heels of Angie's painfully open op-ed about her double mastectomy comes Esquire's teaser for their profile of Pitt by Tom Junod, we get a taste of that fierce loyalty that drives each toward the other, and a peek at the inner life of the mostly enigmatic Pitt. In fact, so smitten is Pitt with Jolie that it leaks into his acting roles, as well, said Frank Pollaro, a close friend of the couple also interviewed for the profile:

[O]nce I walked in and Angie was standing there and Zahara walked up and said, "Daddy, you're not going to start making out with Mommy again, are you?" And it's like that. This is a guy who has tried not to do any sexy scenes with other women since he's met Angelina. He's crazy about her, and she's the same way about him. No matter how hard he's working, if one of those kids runs by the window he'll get out of his chair and give them a kiss. And I don't think I've ever seen Angie without one of those children in her arms.

I love that. I really, truly love that. Granted, I've always thought fearless, globe-trotting Jolie made a far better mate for the cerebral and driven Pitt than , whose biggest concern seems to be what tabloid she can land a cover on next. Regardless, it still amazes me that people think their relationship is a sham when stories like this make it crystal clear that it is not.

Do your thing, Brad & Angie, do your thing.

Pitt can next be seen in World War Z, which hits theaters on June 21, 2013.
