Great expectations are due for acclaimed director 's latest project, The Counselor. Featuring an all-star ensemble cast which includes , , , and , it plays on an original script penned by legendary novelist-turned-screenwriter .

Now, thanks to Empire, we can offer a glimpse into some cool new stills from this probable Academy Awards nominations favorite. Looks like Pitt and Diaz are donning some huge cowboy hats for this story about a respectable attorney (Fassbender) who starts dabbling in the drug trafficking business. Something tells me it won't be as easy as it sounds (just ask Breaking Bad's Walter White how that's going).

Producer Steven Schwartz had this to say about the writing:

Since McCarthy himself wrote the script, we get his own muscular prose directly, with his sexual obsessions. It’s a masculine world into which, unusually, two women intrude to play leading roles. McCarthy’s wit and humour in the dialogue make the nightmare even scarier. This may be one of McCarthy’s most disturbing and powerful works.

Definitely sounds (and looks) promising. The production of the film was halted for a short time due to the untimely death of Ridley Scott's brother Tony. The film will be dedicated to his memory.

The Counselor is scheduled to hit theaters on November 15th, 2013.
