The release of Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters is just around the corner and the promotional material has been coming thick and fast. We've seen a whole host of different production posters, trailers and television spots, and now we've been treated to a new Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters clip, which shows and as the titular characters.

Renner (The Avengers) and Arterton (Prince of Persia) are seeking to exterminate witches with their own brand of gratuitous vengeance. Here, we get look at the characters and their weapons (is that Looper's Blunderbuss?) as well as co-star (Fargo). Take a look:

I wouldn't mess with a girl who can headbutt like that!

It's so kitsch it's frightening, but it's a great scene to introduce the siblings. Renner always looks cool with a gun and I enjoy seeing him play the hero! I have to admit, when I first heard about the movie I thought it sounded all kinds of bad. But I'm hoping it will turn out to be a guilty pleasure. Abe Lincoln and vampires didn't mix too well - will this be any different?

After the apparent success of Snow White and the Huntsman, I think we'll be seeing darker, action-fantasy adaptations of lots of fairytales. In fact, I'm sure they're working on Goldilocks and The Three Fire-Breathing Killer Bears, even as we speak.

What do you think about the new generation of fairytale adaptations? Too far? Are you looking forward to seeing Renner and Arterton becoming the ultimate vigilantes, hell bent on retribution?
