Now, for all the controversies of this past Sunday's — and there were a lot, especially if you were rooting against Casey Affleck — there surely aren't too many people out there gnashing their teeth and rending their garments over one particular victory. After all, for all that Isabelle Huppert and Ruth Negga's heart-wrenchingly subtle performances in Elle and Loving might have technically been superior, there's really no denying that 's — the eventual Best Actress winner — put in the most utterly "Oscars-y" performance of the year. Now, sure, the fact that she was arguably playing a fairly blunt metaphor for every actor in the audience probably helped, but she was still terrific in the part, and dominated a movie already filled with soon-to-be-iconic songs and at least one Ryan Gosling.

What's more, it's difficult to begrudge someone who comes across as almost ridiculously well-balanced and lovable as Emma Stone does such success, especially in world filled with, uh, Casey Afflecks. This is doubly true when:

Brie Larson Hugging Emma Stone After Her Oscar Win Is This Ridiculously Adorable

As it turns out, y'see, — a.k.a. last year's thoroughly deserving Best Actress winner for — is actually pretty good pals with Stone, and made sure to find time to congratulate her friend backstage in the immediate aftermath of Stone receiving the award. At which point, things got super emotional. Larson herself posted the above image to Instagram, but it turns out that an intrepid Twitter-er also managed to grab some video footage of the moment, and, well, it's pretty darned adorable:

So much so, in fact, that Larson just went right ahead and retweeted the heck out of it, complete with heartbreak emojis aplenty:

It's almost as though having close friends with you to celebrate your greatest successes — especially ones as ridiculously awesome as Brie Larson — is what actually makes them truly special.

Y'know, that, or the shiny gold statue.

What do you think, though? Which limb would you cut off in order to be friends with Emma Stone and Brie Larson? Let us know below!
