Cameron Monaghan terrified us all back in Gotham's first season when he made his first appearance as the villainous Jerome Valeksa. After the character was shockingly killed off in the second season, fans pleaded for the hit Fox series to bring him back and eventually they got their wish when the red-headed pychopath made his return in Season 3.
During his last appearance on #Gotham, Jerome was apprehended by the police and is currently serving a prison sentence. But it appears that the devilish prince of crime will be returning to the hit #Fox series in Season 4 after Cameron Monaghan took to Instagram to post the following image on Wednesday:
The image shows a creepy set, much like the gothic backdrops we're used to on Gotham. And, most importantly, there's an actor's chair in the image with the name 'Jerome' printed on it. Moreover, the image's location reads New York and, as fans of the #Batman prequel series will know, Gotham is primarily filmed in the Big Apple. To add even more fuel to the fire, Monaghan followed up this Instagram post with an interesting tweet, all but confirming that he's back on Gotham. Check it out below:
What Will Jerome Look Like In Season 4?
While Gotham's executive producer John Stephens has been elusive about whether or not Jerome is Gotham's version of the Joker, there's no doubt that Monaghan's character has become one of the most beloved things about the hit show. Despite only appearing in a handful of episodes across Gotham's first three seasons, the character has no doubt become Gotham's biggest attraction and we're interested to see how Jerome will make a comeback in Season 4.
After Jerome's resurrection in Gotham Season 3 at the hands of the evil Dwight Pollard, the young villain launched an attack on the city in a matter of days, which resulted in mass panic. Due to the unique circumstances surrounding his resurrection, Jerome's face had been removed so the creepy criminal stapled it back on (ouch), giving the character a look that's akin to that of the New 52 comic book version of the Joker. After being taken down by Bruce Wayne, Jerome's face was salvaged by the police and allegedly sewn back on, so we can't help but wonder what the character will look like when he makes his much awaited return to Gotham?
Things have dramatically changed since Jerome was last on the streets of Gotham, and that's largely because Bruce has been taking out thugs in the city, wearing an early prototype Batman suit. If Jerome is back up to his old tricks when Monaghan returns to the show, could we see this early version of Batman taking on the early version of the Joker? Let's hope so! Either way, we can't wait to see Monaghan back in action because he's absolutely incredible in this role.
Gotham airs Thursdays on Fox.
