Warning: This article contains major spoilers from Legends Of Tomorrow Season 2, Episode 8 "The Chicago Way." If you read on, this time aberration cannot be undone.

The mid-season finale of Legends Of Tomorrow really kicked things up a notch. Professor Stein confessed to Sara about his daughter's existence, Malcolm Merlyn showed up in 1927 and the Waverider was invaded by the Legion Of Doom. But perhaps nothing was as shocking as the return of Wentworth Miller's character Leonard Snart.

While we knew Snart would return this season as a member of the Legion of Doom, Captain Cold made his surprising return to as a figment of old friend Mick Rory's imagination. And this reappearance has left us wondering where he came from, and why he's here. But his sudden resurgence may have significant consequences on not just Mick but the Legends themselves.

Will Heat Wave Turn On The Legends?

Mick's reaction to seeing his best friend was priceless. He couldn't help but smile and softly mumble "Leonard" when he set his eyes upon Snart. That's how much this former criminal loved his best friend. However, Snart died to save the Legends in Season 1 of the series, and ever since, Mick has continued to ride with the , saving history from time aberrations. However, he never really got over the death of his best friend — which we saw very clearly when Ray tried on his jacket.

Snart's sudden reappearance brought with it a message for Mick, in which he told him that he had lost his mind for becoming a hero. Although he was quick to brush off the apparition's statements — because he is after all, only a figment of his imagination —Snart's words began to carry some gravity. This was especially obvious when Captain Cold used his own death to backup his point, reinforcing the fact that being a hero with the Legends could end up getting Mick killed, especially due to the affection that Amaya has been showing him.

So the question is, will Snart's words resonate with Mick? Could he end up breaking away from the Legends. We have seen recently that he will jump at any opportunity to revisit his criminal ways. Could he grow tired of saving history and instead, end up tearing the team apart? After all, let's not forget about Mick's checkered history with the Legends back in Season 1.

Could Chronos Return?

While Mick may seem all cuddly and heroic right now, let's not forget that the futuristic version of himself began hunting the Legends under the guise of Chronos, after he was left in an isolated period by Snart. After being saved by the Time Masters Chronos continued to hunt down the Legends through time and make their lives hell.

Instead of just turning his back on his teammates, will Captain Cold's words end up forcing Mick to become Chronos once again and take out his crew altogether. Nobody seen the twist coming last year regarding Chronos's true identity, and it sure made for one compelling storyline. So the question is: Will Captain Cold be responsible for the return of Chronos and the collapse of the Legends of Tomorrow?

Or Will Amaya Save Him From Snart?

This season on Legends, one relationship we certainly didn't see coming was the unusual one between Heat Wave and Vixen, Amaya. Originally suspecting him as Rex Tyler's killer, Amaya boarded the Waverider to kill him. Eventually, the two would stop trying to kill each other and instead, just ended up insulting each other instead.

This week's installment saw Amaya taking great pleasure in becoming a criminal for once — for the greater good of course. Together, the two of them reveled in helping her embrace her villainous ways in order to outsmart the Reverse-Flash. They ended up unexpectedly bonding as Amaya gave Mick a hug — to which he didn't know how to react — and later, stole a gift for him before planting a kiss on his cheek.

The Leonard Snart figment kept pushing on this, commenting on how Amaya's affections will end up causing Mick to join her death wish of getting revenge for Rex. However, it could also end up saving Mick. Without Snart to guide him, Rory has seemed lost for a purpose — he's only there so he can hurt the bad guys — but perhaps Amaya could be a new adventure for him, and thus, save from becoming a criminal again and turning on his own teammates.

Captain Cold's sudden reappearance was definitely an unexpected one. While we knew he would return, we didn't expect to see him appear as a figment of Mick's imagination. His words of advice are certainly unnerving ones, and they leave us wondering if Mick will turn his back on his teammates, Could we see Rory once again becoming the criminal Heat Wave — or worse, Chronos? Or will his newfound affections for Amaya lead to him vanquishing the demon within for good?
