Warning: This article contains spoilers from Season 7 of The Walking Dead.
The seventh season of The Walking Dead returned to screens this past Sunday after a two month gap. There has been a lot of drama on the show this season from Glenn and Abraham's gruesome execution to Jesus and Maggie's struggle for power at the Hilltop and how could we forget Negan taking control of every settlement he can get his bloody hands on?
In spite of all this #horror, Carol and Morgan have been living it up at The Kingdom. Under the charge of King Ezekiel the pair have found that fresh start that they so desperately seek and Crazy Carol has been put to bed — for now.
However, the mid season premiere saw Jesus hatch a cunning plan to introduce Rick and the Alexandrians to King Ezekiel in the hopes that the King would join forces with them in the fight against Negan. When Rick and the crew arrived at The Kingdom, they were overjoyed to discover Morgan had been living there.
After embracing his friends, Morgan told them that Carol had been at The Kingdom but that she had now left. To an extent it's the truth — Carol is living in a house on the outskirts of the settlement — but it does pose the question: Why did Morgan lie to his friends about Carol's whereabouts? Here's why.
Carol Left Alexandria In Search Of A New Life
When Carol left Alexandria back in Season 6, she did so in search of a new life — in search of her true self. She had become a shadow of her former self, transforming from a mousy abused housewife into the most badass bitch on primetime — and became the subject of dozens of hilarious internet memes in the process. No matter how bad or scary you are, you don't want to mess with Crazy Carol because she could turn you into mush just by baking you a cup cake.
Despite her epic transformation, Carol saw that she may have went to far in the past and she was keeping a log of all of the people she had killed and that number was getting bigger and bigger. Her departure was a chance for a fresh start and The Kingdom proved to be just what she needed — a place to start anew. Morgan couldn't take that a way from her and this is, no doubt, why he pretended to have no knowledge of Carol's whereabouts.

Carol Doesn't Want To Fight Now, But Will She Return To Her Former Ways?
When Rick and his friends arrived at The Kingdom, it was pretty obvious to Morgan that they were there to form an alliance — to take Negan down. As they had come for war, Morgan could not inform them of where Carol really was without ruining all the progress she has made.
Throughout this season, Carol has made her position on fighting pretty clear — she wants no part of it and Morgan knows full well that she has left that part of her life behind. If Morgan were to tell Rick that Carol had been staying at the Kingdom, Rick's first instinct would be to find Carol and make her part of the team again — this is the last thing Carol wants. She's happy-ish right now.
Having said that, with Daryl now staying at The Kingdom it's only a matter of time before the Alexandrians become aware of Carol's presence. Out of the entire group, Carol is the one who possesses the most strength and if she finds out about Negan murdering Glenn and Abraham then Negan had better duck for cover because there is no way that Carol is going to let the tyrant away with that.
Check out this scene from next week's episode of The Walking Dead:
Carol may not be in the best place right now but there is no denying that that fire in her belly will be reignited once she finds out about the murder of Abraham, Glenn, Olivia and Spencer all at the hands of Negan. It's only a matter of time before Crazy Carol will swing back into action and have all of the Saviors looking at the flowers.
