If you're like me and have an affinity for good old soppy films from the noughties, it's highly likely that you've seen Step Up. The romantic dance film was released in 2006 and went on to become one of the most memorable films of the decade. It also spawned a franchise, with four follow-up sequels and an upcoming web series.

Moreover, stars Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan met on set of the film and began dating upon its completion. Fast forward 11 years and they're happily married with a four-year-old daughter, Everly. And it appears that both of them were eager to introduce her to the iconic film.

While promoting his new film , Channing Tatum appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and revealed that he and Jenna hoped that Everly would love Step Up because of the dancing. Reflecting on the experience, he said:

"We actually showed her 'Step Up' for the first time. We were like, ‘This is really cool! It’s got dancing. She’s going to love it!"

However, it appears that Everly wasn't as big a fan of her dancing parents' budding on-screen romance as the rest of us. Speaking of his daughter's disinterest in the film, he commented:

“Within 10 seconds, she was like, ‘Can I watch a real movie? I don’t know, like a good one?’ I’m like, ‘What do you mean? This is a real movie! This is such a real movie! They made like seven more of these! You will watch it! Sit down!’”

But it sounds like, despite her parents' persistence, Everly won the battle and made them put on a "real movie". Tatum revealed:

"Ten more seconds went by and she was like, ‘Please, can I watch a real movie?’” Channing added. “We’re like, ‘Fine! Just put on Moana! I don’t care!'"

It's positively adorable that Channing and Jenna Dewan-Tatum tried to introduce their daughter to the film that brought them together. But alas, it seems like she just wasn't as sold on as the rest of the world.

While it's hilariously upsetting that Everly isn't a fan of Step Up, at least we can rest assured knowing that she's a fan of real movies like Moana. You go, Everly!
