When veteran actress up and left Anger Management three months ago amidst a sea of rumors surrounding co-star 's work ethic and professionalism, and that he tried to fire her via text while calling her the c-word. In other words, most people thought, "Here we go again" and waited for him to have an epic meltdown to rival his insane "tiger blood" era that led directly to his being booted from somehow still insanely lucrative Two and a Half Men.
But now, months later, Sheen is finally speaking out about what happened, and why, exactly, Blair was unceremoniously dumped from her role as Charlie's girlfriend. He sat down to chat with Jay Leno on Wednesday's The Tonight Show and set the record straight:
One of our primary characters, Selma Blair, who played Kate, was written out because [the show] was not about our relationship, and the problem was too many people were still excited about the Two and a Half [Men] character and thought the Anger Management character was a little dull.
So, um, that is not the case anymore. Her character leaves, and I start circling the drain. So it's really fun to watch and hella fun to play.
Here's the thing, though. While it's entirely possible that that is the reason they ultimately decided to write out Blair's character, it doesn't mean all of the aforementioned insanity didn't also happen, as well. It's just a very clever way of Sheen to deflect from a situation that had the potential to blow up in his face, as situations have before.
