Do you like beauty? Are you into Japanese fairy tales? The Tale of Princess Kaguya is just for you.

This upcoming animation is an adaptation of the oldest, 10th-century Japanese folktale, called The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter. The story, also known as Princess Kaguya, is about a mysterious girl who was discovered as a baby inside a glowing bamboo plant.

It is helmed and co-written by , the director of Grave of the Fireflies and Pom Poko. This is the fifth film of the director for Studio Ghibli, but the first after 14 years.

Have a look at this refined and emotional trailer using every colour of the pastel palette. Its visual style imitates Japanese paintings. It is quiet and beautiful.
