Many of us know the agony of "the one who got away," but at least the heartbroken can now take comfort in the fact that even angelic, chiseled humans like Chris Evans are not immune to the cruelties of love.

and dated for almost a year, but Slate reluctantly called the whole thing off because Evans's colossal fame was having a negative impact on her life.

They might have broken up, but Slate really put most of us to shame when it comes to ex-relations by singing the Captain America actor's praises in what reads as a bittersweet eulogy for their love.

Chris Evans made it clear that the feelings were 100 percent mutual in an interview with People magazine where he described Slate as "his favorite person," and that's only the start:

She's my favorite human. She's the best. I've never ever ever met someone in my life who has a mastery of the English language the way she does. She'll give you one sentence and there's no fat to it. You're like, 'You just chose such an unbelievable collection of words that beautifully articulate what you say.'

It's like an art form talking with her, because the visuals associated with her expression are just so colorful. She's so vulnerable, so honest, so interested in other people more than herself, she's incredibly compassionate, there's just nothing to not love about her."

The romantic in me wants to believe that these star-crossed lovers aren't done just yet, but if these guys ever get together again, I doubt we will know anything about it for years. It seems that to make A-list love run smoothly, privacy is Captain.

Do you want Chris Evans and Jenny Slate to get back together again?
