Less than two months after visiting the victims of the Aurora shooting, Christian Bale once again proved that heroes don't have to wear a cape and cowl to change someone's life.
Jayden Barber has been battling one of cruelest forms of cancer for two years. He's just four years old and in his short life, Jayden has had chemotherapy for bone cancer and MDS leukemia. According to WYTV in Ohio, one year after receiving treatment for the bone cancer Jayden's parents learned the chemotherapy had caused the leukemia which was attacking Jayden's blood and bone marrow. His condition was deemed terminal after a failed bone marrow transplant earlier this year, but happily he went into remission not long after.
Since then, the life of this tough toddler has had more positive surprises than negative ones. According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Dark Knight Rises star Christian Bale quietly flew Jayden and his whole family out to LA where the actor, Jayden and both their families had lunch in Disney's Club 33.
Jayden's relationship with Batman has got him through some tough times, as his parents described in a local news clip how he watches the recent Christopher Nolan movies religiously and has no time for an animated 'kids' Batman. It must have been the most fantastic of thrills to have lunch with Batman himself.
Jayden's mother posted these photos on the Facebook page that presumably got Bale's attention, Lighting the Batsignal for Jayden. Check them out below:
Jayden's mom, Charlene posted on the facebook page, saying simply:.
The entire interaction was like old friends having lunch. Jayden did not get star struck but was well aware of who we were with! They talked movies and super Heros an he was genuinely happy to hear about everything Jayden wanted to tell him. Christian, his wife and daughter are three of the most beautiful people we have ever met! Christian made these arrangements for us personally and ensured we were treated like royalty. I don't have even one negative thing to say about them. I can tell you that they were just as impressed w Jayden as Jayden was w them :)
Tell me that doesn't make your heart melt? Sometimes good things do happen to good people and sometimes, Batman is there when you need him.
