There aren't many directors out there who could take over from , but I'm pretty confident is one of them. Having finished his Batman magnum opus, Nolan has yet to release any news about his future projects; that is until now. The Hollywood Reporter has just announced that Nolan is in talks to direct and produce a scifi project titled, Interstellar.

If the name sounds familiar, it's because the film was original slated to be directed by Spielberg. However, his busy schedule directing The Adventures of Tintin and War Horse meant Interstellar was effectively stranded in the cinematic void for several years.

It's not surprising Nolan has been approached; the script for Interstellar was developed by his brother and longtime collaborator, Jonathan Nolan. The story will concern a group of space explorers who pass through a wormhole leading to an epic space adventure, featuring time travel and alternate dimensions. It might sound a bit crazy, but the plot was actually developed with the help of theoretical physicist Kip Thorne. Anyway, with the mind-bending-dream-athon Inception already under his belt, I'm pretty certain Nolan can produce an equally complex and twisted space story.

Although Spielberg has given up his director's chair, there's still the possibility that he'll be involved in some capacity, particularly since his other scifi flick, Robopocalypse has apparently been delayed indefinitely.

So, are you guys excited to see Nolan take the wheel of this particular space adventure, or would you have preferred Spielberg to remain in charge? Let us know in the comment section below.
