Well, to be honest, it's hardly a 'new' project. The Coen's first mentioned it way back in 2004 as the final movie in their 'Numbskull Trilogy' (consisting of O Brother Where Art Thou? and Intolerable Cruelty). Originally was attached to star in the historical comedy, and that still seems to be the case. told Thompson On Hollywood:
We’ve been working on that one. There’s a good chance that would be next.
It’s about the movie business and life and religion and faith. Faith and the movie business. It’s still George.
The story follows the trial and tribulations of a 1920s matinee film idol who decides to take on Shakespeare's Roman epic. Previously was also mentioned by the Coens in relation to "a scandal movie" set in Ancient Rome. It now seems likely that this movie and Hail Caesar are one and the same.
What do you think? Does this sound like a fitting project for the Coen's to handle? Let us know below.
