A 'Hobbit spoilers discussion' was kicked off recently by some die hard Hobbit enthusiasts, regarding the 'Lego Lake-town chase set' which has been causing quite the stir. It is thought that the Lego set, combined with the movie trailer, may lead to movie spoilers for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.
The lego set comprises of five mini-figures: Bard the Bowman, Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield, a Lake-town Guard and the Master of Lake-town. It also features several Lake-town buildings and a boat.
In the trailer, the dwarves Bilbo and Bard, seem to be fleeing the Lake-town guard and the Master of Lake-town. Although there does seem to be an orc invasion, could this really be what the Lego set is based around?
The design of the boat that weaves through small ice floes and the granite columns of some ancient ruin in the trailer is allegedly the same in the Lego version: albeit obviously a plastic modern version!
Dwalin’s line, 'How do we know he won’t betray us?' is thought to refer to their temporary ally Bard who has just facilitated their escape from Lake-town. And finally, that pesky second boat which seems to be causing a lot of confusion. It’s certainly not the same boat but what is it doing there?
Take a look at the trailer below to see what you make of it, but try not to torture yourself too much with the hypothesizing!
