The Amazing Spider-Man movie ecosystem is absolutely crawling with villains and Sony Pictures seems intent on shining the spotlight on each and every one of them.
The Daily Bugle viral site was devised to promote 's eagerly anticipated The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and has been delivering fans handfuls of exciting tidbits since it was created. The most recent offering has been slightly more cryptic than others, however.
The site has published an article about a wealthy businessman who has offered to donate money and fix up Midtown Science High following the brutal Lizard attacks (seen in The Amazing Spider-Man). That businessman is named Thomas Fireheart which, while it might not initially ring any bells, is the daytime alias of the villain Puma.
The write up states:
An endowment to the New York City public schools system from Fireheart Industries will help pay for the repairs to the damage suffered by Midtown Science High as a result of Dr. Curt Connors’ rampage three months ago. Casino owner and businessman, Thomas Fireheart, presented the donation to the city school’s chancellor in an afternoon ceremony at the school. The gift of two million dollars will cover the entire estimated cost for repairs
Puma popped into the Spider-Man universe in 1984 and spent his days harvesting cash as a wealthy industrialist but, he also has some hidden secrets. Thomas Fireheart was born into a long line of Native Americans seeking to craft the perfect warrior and he has harnessed the ability to transform into a powerful humanoid mountain lion.
This little snippet probably doesn't mean a role for Puma in the upcoming movie but, it does hint that he has not been forgotten for the possibility of future roles.
