I'm just going to jump in and admit it; I was lucky enough to catch Iron Man 3 at a press screening and it was everything you could possibly want from a Marvel superhero movie. Tony Stark was on top wise-cracking form, the Mandarin is going to blow people's minds and Happy Hogan makes a welcome (and very funny) return. Director spoke to ComicBookMovie about the possibility of him returning for Iron Man 4, revealing:
Well, Marvel would have to ask me because they're famous for not working with the same people twice, and who's to say they would ever approach me so that's something we'll cross when we come to it.
I thought Black did a fantastic job helming his first big-budget superhero movie and he managed to bring his own style and flavor to the flick, while still delivering the big action set pieces. I predict that Iron Man 3 is also going to do big business at the box office, meaning that a fourth installment of the franchise should be a no-brainer.
So should Black return for Iron Man 4? His point that Marvel don't work with the same guys twice is wrong; you only have to look at , who directed Iron Man 1 and 2, and , who is set to helm The Avengers: Age Of Ultron, to see that the studio has no qualms about using its directorial talent more than once.
