Wowza! Was that an incredible first trailer for the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming or what?! If, for whatever reason, you're yet to take a gander at the glorious trailer in all its Spidey-liciousness, check it out below!
Now that you've feasted your eyes on the web-tacular moviegoing event we're in for next July, let's talk about the #Vulture in the room.
What Is Adrian Toomes' Doing Here And What's His Motivation In Turning To A Life Of Crime?
Barring Michael Keaton being overwhelmingly pissed that he has to play another bird-based character, I'd hazard a guess that, in the style of so many classic villains that came before him, Adrian Toomes suffers from some unspeakable tragedy and turns to a life of villainy, seeking vengeance and retribution. Is there evidence to support this theory? But of course!

Adrian Toomes' Pre-Avengers Occupation
The jacket Toomes is sporting in his Vulture armor looks not unlike a military flight jacket for a pilot. Combine this with the fact that in the #MCU we already know that Sam Wilson, a.k.a. Falcon, was part of an elite group of military pilots utilizing experimental wing tech, and I don't think it's a stretch to imagine Toomes as some sort of military pilot prior to the events of the first #Avengers film.
Will Tragedy Strike In The Form Of Injury?
A closer look at the upcoming Vulture action figure from the Marvel Legends series offers up more interesting nuggets. Is it just me, or do his legs look like they were amputated and replaced with artificial limbs? Is it possible that during the events of the Avengers films, Toomes suffered a horrific injury, driving him to vengeance?
Multiple times in this trailer we see bad guys utilizing what appears to be advanced laser weapons. Given that the film is set in New York, ground zero for the Chitauri invasion, it's not a bridge too far to assume the film's plot may revolve around some #Chitauri tech making its way into the wrong hands. Combine this with the shot of Vulture utilizing a similar weapon at the end of the trailer and my theory is starting to come together!
Of course this is all just speculation, but it definitely seems like a solid guess! I guess we'll just have to wait until Spider-Man: Homecoming drops on July 7, 2017 to find out for sure!
