's long-awaited Backmask is a project that has been hanging around the horror scene since 2011. Now, the director of 2003's The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and 2009's Friday the 13th finally seems to be hoisting his production up a notch. And here to drill that message into our skulls are some totally freaky new stills from the movie. Take a look at these and just try to keep your pants dry!
Wondering what the hell's going on? The movie goes like this:
During a sex, drugs, and rock-fuelled party, six small-town teenagers find an old vintage record and decide to play it backwards in order to listen for any subliminal/satanic messages. Lo and behold, a seemingly malevolent spirit quickly infiltrates the group, wreaking havoc as it moves from one body to another. Eventually, however, it's revealed that the spirit in question is actually trying to convey a message...and that the real source of horror isn't particularly paranormal, but rather something (or someone) much closer to home.
If movies like Paranormal Activity and Insidious have proved anything, it's that low-budget supernatural horrors can turn a tidy profit at the box office. So, is Backmask a flick that you're super anxious to check out? Or are you done with the supernatural horror genre?
