The kiddies' scourge is back! That's right, Chucky's returning for a brand new movie.
Joblo.com recently got the opportunity to interview the three stars from upcoming horror flick, Curse Of Chucky: , and . Dourif is aptly cast – her dad's Brad Dourif, the voice of Chucky, and she plays the heroine, a paraplegic living with her mother (Quesnelle). The pair are visited by her sister (Bisutti) and her family.
Here's the synopsis:
'Nica (Fiona Dourif) is grieving over the gruesome suicide of her mother when her domineering older sister Barb (Danielle Bisutti) arrives with her young family in tow to help settle their mother’s affairs. As the sisters butt heads over Nica’s plans for the future, Barb’s young daughter comforts herself with a grinning, red-haired talking doll named Chucky (voiced again by Brad Dourif) that recently arrived mysteriously in the mail. But as a string of brutal murders begins to terrorize the household, Nica suspects the doll may hold the key to the bloodshed. What she doesn’t know is that Chucky has a personal score to settle. He’s determined to finish a job he started more than 20 years earlier, and this time he’s going to see it through to the bloody and shocking end.'
They interviewed the trio at the Fantasia International Film Festival, a genre festival based in Montreal where an R-rated version of the film was screened (so, minus the gory stuff). Check out some highlights below:
On the reaction to the premiere screening
Danielle Bisutti: The payoff was super big. And we also had a sense when we were filming it that this was a special episode in the franchise as it were, and exactly how we wanted the audience to react, especially for Don.
On Child's Play
Chantal Quesnelle: Oh yeah, I remember Child's Play. I don’t think I saw it in the theater, but I saw it on VHS. I remember renting it on VHS, and it's a dream come true for me. I went to McGill. I'm from Kingston, but I went to university in Montreal, and I remember in my first or second year going to the film festival and thinking 'God it would be great to be in one of these movies one day' and twenty years later [I'm] in one of the movies I rented...
Danielle: My uncle produced the first film, and my Dad was the set dresser on the third one where I got to visit the set and meet Don, and have this experience and it just felt like kismet many years later to be part of this legacy.
On growing up in the Dourif household
Fiona: There's a Chucky doll in the corner of our house. (Laughs) It was the coolest thing about dating me in high school.
On playing a paraplegic
Fiona: It's the second time I've played a paraplegic. I played one about three years ago. I did a lot of research. I have a lot of respect for people that have to live that way. It's challenging. It was hard to drag myself and not move my legs, and you guys can see the one shot where I moved…
...The first time I played it (paraplegic) I had consultants and I wheeled around a hospital for a couple of days and stuff and figured out how to transfer in and out of chairs. Universal gave me a chair, and I wheeled around a mall, shopping and stuff.
Curse of Chucky will be released on home video on October 8th this year.
