Daniel Craig has been considered many people's favorite depiction of James Bond, and for good reason. In his four movies as the character, he has had great success with Casino Royale, Skyfall and Spectre, while having one miss with Quantum of Solace. Regardless, to many this is the best adaptation of 007.
So, when it seemed that Craig would not be coming back for a fifth go at the character, fans were vocally disappointed. Craig would say in interviews that he was done with the character and would not be returning for Bond 25, the twenty-fifth Bond film.
However, in a sudden twist of fate, Craig seems to have changed his mind about the role. On The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, when asked if he would make his return as 007, he gave this response:
This comes as a complete surprise to everyone, as Craig was previously adamant about being out of the picture. As a result, people had begin to look towards potential Bond prospects Tom Hardy and even Idris Elba. Lo and behold, it seems Craig is staying on with the project.
As of right now, it seems likely that Craig's return will indeed happen in Bond 25, and possibly be his last time as the character. It's also possible that this means he is ready to do several more Bond movies, but as of right now, the best option has to be the former.
All we can do for now is sit back and cheer that Craig, considered one of — if not the best — Bonds will be ordering another Vodka Martini (shaken not stirred) on the big screen.
Bond 25 currently is slated to be released sometime in 2019.
