It turns out that when isn't organizing awesome Olympic opening ceremonies, he likes to dabble in filmmaking. His next venture, Trance, has just had a trailer dropped, and from the looks of it, he hasn't lost any of his skills.

Trance, which stars , and , is the loose remake of a 2001 TV movie which aired in the UK. It concerns the story of an art thief (McAvoy) who, after receiving a blow to the head, forgets where he stashed a valuable painting. The local crime boss (Cassel), having tried the usual finger removing technique, places his faith in a hypnotist (Dawson) to retrieve the memory. From the looks of the trailer, we'll get a kinetic gangland thriller mixed with the hallucinogenic style we've seen in such Boyle films as The Beach and Trainspotting. Check out the trailer below:
