Superman fans are getting restless. Not much is being released about the upcoming Man of Steel. We're growing impatient. We've seen a teaser, a trailer, and scant few pictures, but that's about it. Now, writer clearly read this article and my suggestion that maybe it was time to start revealing some more promotional material for the upcoming movie about Big Blue as soon as possible. It's enough to make me steeple my fingers like Mr. Burns and chortle, "Everything is going according to plan!"
In any event, Goyer certainly caught wind of the Internet saying, "Hey, man, give us SOMETHING!" In a recent interview with Total Film, he revealed that he knows news has been kept under wraps, but he wants us to know there's more on the way.
It's something Chris [Nolan] tried hard to do with the Batman films. I'm genuinely pleased with how much secrecy we've been able to maintain. There's so much of the movie that people don't know, that hasn't been touched upon. The trailer's just the tiniest, tiniest tip of the iceberg.
As for the question as to whether or not Man of Steel will be much darker in tone?
Relatable and realistic doesn't necessarily mean dark. I think it would be inappropriate for us to approach a Superman film as if we were doing The Dark Knight. The Batman films are a lot more nihilistic; Superman has always been a story about hope.
It's always interesting to see the contrast in marketing styles between Marvel's hype machine approach and DC's penchant for playing its cards close to its chest. While this news doesn't give us more information or material, at least we know there will be more material. Right? Right...
