The unorthodox will appear in his daughter's upcoming movie, A Fall From Grace.
Lynch's daughter , who has directed a handful of features herself (including Boxing Helena, the object of one of Hollywood's most notorious breach-of-contract suits), has cast her eccentric father in her upcoming thriller.
David, who periodically pops up in his own movies (his most memorable turn as an actor was playing FBI Agent Gordon Cole on Twin Peaks, and in the movie Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me) will play the father of , who stars as a cop tracking a serial killer (according to Indie Wire). The celebrated director of Twin Peaks, Lost Highway and Mulholland Drive said about the project that he be "will be putty in Jen's hands."
Despite her father's prestigious name, Jennifer says that she didn't have her famous father in mind when she penned the script:
I didn't write the role with him in mind, but I was thinking of [my father] because he calls up so many powerful and yet fragile elements in my life and because this character is strong but broken down by dementia. So for me, it's perfect.
Anything with or by Lynch is nearly always perfect for me, too. I am foaming at the mouth for anything new from him. Inland Empire was a masterpiece in every sense of the word, and while it wouldn't be a bad legacy to go out on this one, I've been hoping to see him get back into gear for a while. So, this A Fall From Grace is looking good, but let's hope this project doesn't interfere with the new "typically dark" script that he's working on.
Production on A Fall From Grace is rumored to begin this summer. A release date for the film has not been set as of this writing.
