DC's streaming service will finally give fans the live-action Teen Titans series we've been clamoring for. Since the news was announced, fans have been patiently waiting for the reveal of who will be cast as our favorite young heroes. Earlier this month the first domino dropped when it was announced that Tegan Croft will play Raven. The next casting domino would fall 20 days later with Starfire.
American Actress Anna Diop Will Play Starfire On Titans
It's reported that Anna Diop will play alien princess Koriand'r a.k.a. Starfire in DC's live-action Titans. Unlike her co-star Tegan Croft, Diop has guest starred on a number of shows since 2006. The 29-year-old actress is a familiar face to fans of WB/The CW. From 2006–2008 Diop guest starred on Everybody Hates Chris as Diedra before starring in all 13 episodes of the cancelled CW series The Messengers as Rose. Most recently, she played Nicole Carter in 24: Legacy. Diop's casting brings diversity to DC, which isn't anything new for the studio, as it has been a major element of each #DC superhero show.
The large age gap between Diop and Croft could suggest Starfire will act as a big sister to the younger Raven, with their unfamiliarity of our world uniting them. There hasn't been any information regarding a storyline, but we do know a few things about Starfire:
"An alien princess from a warrior planet who seeks asylum on Earth. A no-nonsense, take-no-prisoners stranger on our world, she has the ability to shoot energy bolts and fly. Searching for her place on Earth, she’ll come into contact with the Titans."
While we still have more questions than answers, you can rest assured that Movie Pilot will keep you updated. Titans will began filming this fall, with an expected 2018 release date.
