We recently got the fantastic news that a live-action Nightwing movie is on the way and is being directed by than none other than The Lego Batman Movie director, Chris McKay. This movie announcement is something we've been waiting for for some time now, and fans are going crazy speculating who could play the lead Dick Grayson and thinking about what comic-book storylines we could see. We all know Nightwing has various villains he comes up against and I want to take a look at 6 of the best we could see the acrobatic vigilante take on.
Hush will always primarily be remembered as a Batman villain, but that doesn't mean he hasn't given Dick Grayson some trouble over the years. If you remember the storyline where Batman "died" and Dick Grayson took over the Bat-mantle, Hush copied the face of Bruce Wayne and was a real pest to Nightwing. Hush (along with Architect) managed to destroy Wayne Tower right in front of Dick. For his mental turmoil alone, I'd love to see Hush in the Nightwing movie — preferably as a side villain.
DC has tons of fantastic villains in its Rogues' Gallery, and quite often some of the great ones get over-looked for the likes of Catwoman, the Joker and General Zod. One of the great villains I'm talking about is the heavy-duty Blockbuster. When Blockbuster first came to Blüdhaven, he was eager to become quite the ring-leader, but with Nightwing in town, it was hard for him to flourish. If you happened to catch the animated movie Batman: Bad Blood, you would've seen Nightwing take on Blockbuster — check out a clip below!
4. Black Mask
Black Mask is another one of #DC's amazing villains that could be excellently utilized in a Nightwing movie. Over the years, there have been two main Black Masks who have troubled Nightwing. First it was Roman Sionis, who was one of Nightwing's first villains in Blüdhaven. He's undoubtedly one of the villains who shaped Nightwing into who he is today. The second Black Mask, Jeremiah Arkham, is a villain who terrorized Blüdhaven while Nightwing was away in Gotham being #Batman. I'd love to see Black Mask as a mob-boss type character in the Nightwing movie. Black Mask is more side-villain material than a leading baddie, however.
3. Lady Vic
Lady Vic is a bad-ass villain that we absolutely need to see in a future DC movie, and there's no better place for her than the Nightwing movie. She's a sword and gun- wielding wealthy English woman. Lady Vic is one of numerous villains who Roland Desmond (a.k.a Blockbuster) hired to kill Nightwing. Lady Vic was utilized in the New 52 comic line not too long ago, so I think it would be perfect to include her in the Nightwing movie while she's still fresh in the minds of some comic lovers!
Catalina Marie Flores a.k.a Tarantula is a former FBI agent who has an awesome and totally original origin story. She left the FBI to become a superhero, but she was influenced by corrupt cops, leading to her morals becoming seriously blurred. I think this flawed style of villain would be fantastic to see in the DCEU, and help to ground the franchise in a nuanced morality.
Think of Tarantula as Nightwing's Catwoman, as she's not totally bad and she's definitely not evil. Her coolest storyline is when she killed Lady Vic (number 3 in this list) when she found out Blockbuster hired her to kill Nightwing. Further along in that story, Nightwing was at his lowest depths trying to defeat Blockbuster. But just when he became close to losing, Tarantula came in and saved Dick Grayson, which ultimately meant killing Blockbuster.
Deathstroke is one of DC's greatest villains of all time. You may recognize him from his outing on the hit TV show Arrow or or the announcement that he'd be the villain in the upcoming movie The Batman. This may lead to people thinking he shouldn't be on this list, but be sure of it that Deathstroke is truly a Nightwing villain.
In the Nightwing movie, I'd love to see the classic origin between Deathstroke and Nightwing where Deathstroke's son died trying to fulfil his contract to kill Nightwing. This spawned Deathstroke to try complete this contract of killing Nightwing; thus a fantastic rivalry began.
Over the years, Deathstroke has terrorized Nightwing's life in more ways than one. For one, he was a constant threat to Nightwing's life. He also killed one of Dick Grayson's friends, Jericho. This is a battle we need to see in the Nightwing movie, and I'm hoping we get to see a glimpse of this action in The Batman movie, as we know Deathstroke is the main villain.

So if I was planning the Nightwing movie, I'd definitely be building up the storyline arc of Blockbuster trying to kill Nightwing by hiring various killers thus introducing Tarantula. This arc would have to span over 2 or 3 movies, but I'd definitely have Deathstroke as the main villain, and Hush as a cool side villain.
