Netflix's The Defenders may be a a few months away but we finally have content to feed our hype. On top of a viral video and a website — and a Ward Meachum LinkedIn page — Marvel has finally released the first poster for this summer's big team-up series.
Marvel's Chief Creative Officer (and Marvel TV executive producer) Joe Quesada released the electrifying poster via his Twitter.
Consisting of #JessicaJones, #LukeCage, #Daredevil and #IronFist, the Defenders will be taking on The Hand and the mysterious villain known as Alexandra (Sigourney Weaver) on August 18th. As seen above, the brand new poster features all four Defenders, plus Alexandra's silhouette lurking behind our heroes, serving as the perfect implication that this new Big Bad is a force to be reckoned with. Below her seems to be Elektra (Elodie Yung) in the same color palette as Alexandra.
A resurrected Elektra will likely be one of the main villains of the show. As we saw in Iron Fist with the character of Harold Meachum, who died and came back to life several times in the series, Elektra will be possessed by an evil entity post-resurrection.
It's worth noting that the poster was leaked in low quality on Instagram a few days ago and many fans speculated that the character below Alexandra was Colleen Wing. Though, as previously mentioned, based on the color and style of the design, that character is definitely Elektra.
The Defenders will more than likely be one of #Netflix's best shows yet. But when do they ever disappoint?
