The visionary director behind Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy and Pacific Rim, has just released a book called "Cabinet of Curiosities: My Notebooks, Collections, and Other Obsessions".
It's a must for fans of Del Toro's flicks, and, most particularly, for monster aficionados! The creature master takes us inside his sketchbook - and it's helluva scary in there. He also talks about the horror inside us all and the importance of failure, saying things like:
I think it's essential to fuck up. I think of failure as latent success. Any experience in life is neutral. You can tint it as a piece of learning or you tint it as a piece of misinformation.
That's what I keep telling my mom, but she just won't listen...

Having now released this masterpiece, and on completion of his mech vs. monster mash-up Pacific Rim, del Toro has set his sights on a new haunted house thriller, Crimson Peak. He might be the king of unrealized projects, but this ghost story with a twist is already in development with a cast that includes , , and . Let's just hope del Toro gets all weird on us all over again...
