Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Or, is it ?
He's thought by many to be the finest thesp to have ever portrayed DC comic book hero Superman on the big screen, and now reports have emerged that the late Reeve, who died back in 2004, made a posthumous appearance in 's Man of Steel.
According to Comic Book, in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it kinda moment, Reeve's face is visible for a heartbeat as an image is digitally superimposed over 's face.
I'm still left wondering about the authenticity of this image, since Man of Steel's Cavill and Superman's Reeve already look strangely similar and the sequence in question is pretty obscured.
However, there were early rumors that Snyder's Man of Steel might pay homage to Reeve and, more recently, specific reports that when Superman is flying up into Zod's gravity beam, the effects of the beam are clearly shown on Cavill's face as Reeve.
Tip of the hat or trick of the eye? The jury is still out on this one. But either way, it serves as a reminder that Reeve will always be the definitive cinematic Man of Steel. What say you?
