[Note: Potential Game of Thrones spoilers follow.]
TV shows often lack suspense when it comes to the fate of main characters because they're, well, main characters. Game of Thrones flipped assumptions about "safe" characters by keeping fans on their toes by regularly removing primary (and beloved) players from the game board without warning.
Season 7 of the HBO series is coming up soon, and fans are understandably worried about one of the series' most popular characters: Sansa Stark, played by Sophie Turner.
Sansa has pretty much been to hell and back, and we've gone with her. So will the writers of the show follow their cruel and murderous instincts and take her away from us in the upcoming season?
Back in November of 2016, a batch of rumors circulated that essentially spoiled the entirety of the seventh season. They stated that Sansa would survive.
At the time, those were only rumors so nothing could be taken for granted.
Now, however, there's something more substantial, from a reliable source.
HeyUGuys caught up with Sophie Turner during the red carpet for the 2017 British Academy Film Awards. She was asked about what was next in line for her. Here's what she said:
“We’re about to start shooting the next X-Men, we’ve just finished shooting Season 7 of [Game of] Thrones, and I’ve got a couple of movies to do before X-Men starts. And then we go on to Season 8.”
Sophie's answer seems to confrim Sansa's survival, but it also gives credence to the massive spoiler leak. So...
What Will Sansa Be Up To During Season 7?
Now, this is your last chance to look away before you spoil a big part of the next chapter in Game of Thrones for yourself.
Still here? Good!
According to the released details, Sansa will continue down a ruthless path. Take a look at an excerpt from our coverage of the spoilers:
"Things finally come unstuck for the sickly Petyr Baelish. There will be no marriage to Sansa in the Godswood, although there could well be a beheading in the hallowed Winterfell grounds. With Jon off wooing Daenerys, Sansa is left in charge of family homestead, where she is finally reunited with her spunky sister Arya and crippled brother Bran. Baelish tries to play the two Stark girls off against each other by using the letter that Sansa wrote to Robb about bowing down to Joffrey. Bran helps Sansa figure out Littlefinger's plan to divide the family, and she sentences Baelish to death. It is Arya's job to carry it out, which the bloodthirsty little assassin does with glee."

Sister tension? More murder and deceit? That's definitely a big arc for Sansa. However, what she might be doing, whose execution she might be preparing and her overall fate after Season 7 is anyone's guess.
Could Sansa Meet Her Maker In Season 8?
It's entirely possible. In fact, if the character were to be killed, Turner revealed how she'd like that depressing moment to be handled during an interview with Variety:
“A long, slow episode-lasting death, where it’s just one long scene of my death and no one else. And it’s going to be the last episode of the last season.”
Jokes aside, one thing's for sure: we can all take a breather and know that no matter how much danger Sansa finds herself in throughout the seventh season, she'll come out alive. Unscathed? Well, we'll have to wait a while to find that out.
