Disney has temporarily grounded 's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Captain Nemo, citing casting problems. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the slow-going reboot of the Disney classic is continuing to hit rough seas, this time over Fincher's top choice turning down the role of lead harpooner Ned Land.

It seemed like this thing was finally going to head out to sea and into clear waters when Australia offered a location rebate. With no replacement for Pitt stepping up (even doesn't seem to be getting in on this), it seems like Disney is erring on the side of caution and taking things slowly. Who could blame them after the unfortunate fate of big-budget disappointment John Carter?

It looks like we won't be seeing 20,000 Leagues until 2015. In the meantime, at least Fincher is keeping busy with The Goon and a few episodes of House of Cards for Netflix.

Who would you like to see step up to fill Brad Pitt's vacant shoes and play Ned Land? Let me know in the comments.
