and her magical splendor are scheduled to return Christmas 2018 and has finally given us our first peek at Emily Blunt as the classic supercalifragilisticexpialidocious character.

Complete with a colorful new carpet bag and nostalgic maroon hat, Blunt embodies all the grace and poise we'd expect our favorite, fabulous nanny to have and this sneak peek has us craving more.

Mary Poppins Is Back With A Beautiful Mission

Picking up 20 years after the original 1964 musical fantasy firmly set in depression-era London, Blunt will star alongside several familiar names in Mary Poppins Returns. The cast includes, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer, Julie Walters, Colin Firth and Meryl Streep.

Rounding out the all-star cast will be Dick Van Dyke, who played Poppin's' closest friend, Bert, in the original musical and the Angela Lansbury.

The story will once again center on the Banks siblings, Michael (Ben Whishaw) and Jane (Emily Mortimer). The official synopsis from Disney reveals that the story will feature an older Michael Banks who suffers a personal loss, which prompts Mary Poppins to re-visit her friends on Cherry Tree Lane. Michael, who now has three children (played by Pixie Davies, Nathanael Saleh and Joel Dawson), will be reminded of the joys and wonders of life and the children will discover the enigmatic marvels of Poppins and her astonishing cousin Topsy (Meryl Streep). The sequel will also feature Lin-Manuel Miranda as a charismatic lamplighter called Jack who will aid Poppins in her magical mission to rejuvenate the Banks family.

The return of Mary Poppins will hopefully bring a plethora of happiness and hope to a new generation of moviegoers. It looks like Christmas 2018 just got a lot more magical, and we didn't even need a spoonful of sugar to make it happen.

Directed by Rob Marshall, Mary Poppins Returns hits theaters December 25, 2018.
