When I was little, I used to be good as gold, butter wouldn't melt. All except for one thing - I'd make this pert little comments that would whip up a sh*tstorm of drama.
"Those are nice shoes," I'd say, when my little sister was trying to sneak out of the house in my big sister's new strappy sandals.
"What a lovely recipe! Any special occasion?" I'd say to my mum, when my dad had forgotten it was Valentine's Day.
Etc, etc. Sounds evil, but when you grow up in the suburbs, you've got to get your kicks, right?
Anyhoo, my dad would call it 'stirring'. Which is precisely what Hellboy star and co-star seem to be doing at the moment.
has spent a long time fending off rumors that Hellboy 3's going to happen. He's explained very patiently that he'd need a lot of funding for the third installment and that he simply can't get that level of financing to make it. Ron Perlman has said that the director 'owes' a third film to fans, which is an interesting way of puting it.
Now Doug Jones has joined in the stirring in an interview with Collider saying,
"I think Abe Sapien, from the Hellboy movies is the one [role] I'm most proud of. He's near and dear to my heart. After doing two feature films and two animated features and a video game, he and I have gotten very close, over the years. And hopefully, we can do a 'Hellboy 3,' one day."
See what I mean? Innocent saccharine-sounding comment on the surface, but it'll probably whip everyone up into a Hellboy 3 frenzy again. Del Toro says he needs a cool $140 million to make the third film and I don't see him caving on this, which I think is a good thing - if he's going to do a Hellboy 3, he shouldn't have to compromise his vision. But that's just my two cents - sound off below!
