We just got a trailer for the upcoming #horror anthology movie XX, which is comprised of four horror stories each featuring a female lead. Also, each short story is directed by a woman: Roxanne Benjamin, Jovanka Vuckovic, Karyn Kusama, and Annie Clark. All the stories are tied together through award-winning animator and writer Sofia Carrillo (La Casa Triste). (Check out the trailer below.)
The title #XX is even a reference to the female chromosomes and it's really interesting to see a series of horror films created from the perspective of female directors.
The anthology film's use girl-power from top to bottom lead me to think about how potentially great a movie could be that brought together some of the most famous women from the #horror genre in the same style as The Expendables franchise.
Below are five fierce females who would make up the ultimate cast for just such a horror team-up movie and could hack and slash any crazed demon, hockey mask-wearing maniac, or gore covered ghoul that appeared on screen.
1) Jamie Lee Curtis
If you are going to start a team that's going fight some of the scariest entities around town, then you need a leader who knows a thing or two about a a knife-wielding wacko. #JameLeeCurtis is well-known for her groundbreaking role as Laurie Strode who goes up against that crazed killer, #MichaelMyers, in the #Halloween franchise. Strode eventually learns that the serial killer that's been chasing her around with a bloody knife is actually her brother. But any woman who can go toe-to-toe with Michael Myers with a knitting needle is someone who can for sure lead a girl-powered team of evil hunters.
2) Heather Langenkamp
Like Jason Statham who was Sylvester Stallone's right-hand man in The Expendables franchise, Curtis would need a right-hand woman as well. Who better than Heather Langenkamp as Nancy Thompson in A Nightmare on Elm Street. What's great about #HeatherLangenkamp's character is that #NancyThompson started out as a sweet and innocent teenage girl, but turns into a full-blown badass in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. She learns how to control her dreams, and then teaches the group of kids being hunted down by #FreddyKrueger how to fight back in the dream world.
Watch out evil-doers everywhere because 1, 2, Heather's coming for you!
3) Millie Bobby Brown
In The Expendables, Jet Li was the martial arts expert, but if you're going to go up against demons then how effective is a roundhouse kick, really? Instead you need someone who has some monster powers and Millie Bobby Brown who played our favorite waffle-loving psychokinetic girl, #Eleven, in #StrangerThings fits the bill. She can pretty much take any monster from the Upside Down (or one hiding in your closet) with power of mind bullets. Just make sure you have a tissue ready to wipe the blood running down her nose.

4) Kathy Bates
You have to admit, #KathyBates has done some amazing acting in the American Horror Story series. She's done everything from playing the immortal Madame Marie Delphine LaLaurie who tortured her slaves to playing the psychotic actor that reenacted The Butcher in American Horror Story: Roanoke. But her true tour-de-force was playing Annie Wilkes in Stephen King's psychological thriller Misery. If want to take down Jason from Friday the 13th, then you let little ol' Annie just "hobble" him good.
5) Sigourney Weaver
OK, you want to bring in the big guns? You want to bring some fierce female firepower? Then look no further than Sigourney Weaver. She took on a hoard of acid-drooling extraterrestrials in the #Scifi #Horror Alien franchise and kicked ass! At one point, she even jumped into a robotic exo-skeleton and slapped an alien queen around a spaceship. No monster would stand a chance against her.
