After the straight-up awesomeness that was the 'Cornetto Trilogy' - Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World's End - we've been waiting to see what Edgar Wright will sink his teeth into next.
Whilst there were some classic horror tropes in all of Wright's 'Cornettos' - I particularly appreciated the spooky, Witchfinder General style malevolence of Hot Fuzz - but all of his films have had a comedic, nudge-nudge cheek that prevents them from being truly SCARY.
However, 's next movie will be 'the real deal', according to upcoming collaborator Mark Protosevich, the writer behind I am Legend and the remake of Oldboy.
enthused of his forthcoming work with Wright:
The one thing I’ll say is that Edgar’s movies have a certain tone, and this one might be a little unexpected because the main thing we’re going for is scary. Smart and scary. The real deal.
Not a whole lot of solid info as yet, but I can't see that pairing Wright and Protosevich together could be a bad idea...Let us know what direction you'd like to see the pair go in. What makes a horror 'the real deal,' anyway?
