When it comes to live-action TV, Zatanna is a character that is really slept on. The only place where she really made an appearance was in The CW's Smallville, but not for long. When looking at the Arrowverse, they've dropped several Easter Eggs related to her, but she hasn't been seen on any of the four super-shows as of yet. The closest we got was Constantine guest starring on Arrow for a few episodes.
Eiza González is a very talented actress you may recognize from the hit TV series From Dusk Till Dawn, taking on the mantra of Santanico Pandemonium, or Kisa if you don't want to pronounce that. On top of that, she's of Mexican descent, and Eiza is very proud of that. Wouldn't a Zatanna with a Mexican twist be such a dynamic change? I'd sure love that.
She Already Has Connections With Writer Geoff Johns
Having an acquaintance-ship with one of the producers of The Flarrow Universe is a definite bonus. González already has links with one of the writers of the show, Geoff Johns himself. The two conversed on Twitter, and coincidentally, it was on Zatanna herself. Eiza González has previously tweeted saying that #Zatanna is one of her favorite #DC comic females She's also posted a picture promoting her show From Dusk Till Dawn, but the costume had an awful resemblance to Zatanna, here are their responses:
Eiza Is A Very Talented Actress
There are many talented women in the business, but when it comes to matching Zatanna's characteristics and personality, González has it all. Eiza's character Kisa on From Dusk Till Dawn displays the same slickness and cleverness as Zatanna. Both females also do stage performance, Zatanna being a magician and Kisa being an exotic dancer.
These two ladies also share an incredible amount of power that they use against their foes. Coincidence? I mean, they share a lot of similarities, don't they? As well as these points, both are skilled in hand-to-hand combat, and can hold their own in physical fights. She's such a bad-ass, don't you think?
She's A W.O.C. — Something The DCTV Universe Needs More Of
Eiza identifies herself as a Mexican/Latin American. For the character of Zatanna, there is debate whether she is Caucasian or Latin. Some arguments state she has Latin roots, supposedly being related to Leonardo DaVinci. Others say she is simply Caucasian. The DCTV universe is starting to grow in its depiction of POC. Including a Mexican Zatanna could definitely be what DCTV needs to expand its community and appeal to new audience. Besides, who wouldn't want a talented, WOC as the new Zatanna Zatara?!
